NIWL works at the nexus of the education and employment systems, promoting their integration to ensure lifelong learning and productivity for all Americans. Our work is accomplished through a combination of research, program development, evaluation, technical assistance, capacity building, training, and information sharing in three broad areas:

Many of NIWL's projects focus on providing technical assistance, informing policy, supporting program development, and conducting evaluation and research to improve transitions to and between careers, education, and training. More info

NIWL plays a key role in local and national initiatives designed to further the professional development of teachers. Specific projects focus on teacher education reform at institutions of higher education and strategies for addressing the shortage of high-quality substitute teachers. More info

Through a number of different projects, NIWL partners with educators, businesses, and employee associations to ensure that all individuals have access to the labor market and that all workers are able to grow and advance through continuing education.More info
